What is A shaman?
A shaman is sometimes referred to as the “wounded healer.” It means someone who has survived TRAUMA (physical, emotional, or both) and learned valuable lessons. A shaman is a person who shares this sacred knowledge with others so they might also heal
WHAT DOES AN ORDAINED SHAMAN MINISTER DO?
A shaman minister conducts sacred ceremonies such as weddings, last rites funerals, and celestial gatherings. Shamans use chants, prayers, drumming, smudging, singing, art, and meditation to create a spiritual environment where healing can take place. Shaman ministers are also teachers, offering mystery teachings in subjects they are trained in. Some examples might be elemental healing, cycles of change, reiki, and sacred geometry.
IS SHAMANISM A RELIGION?
Yes and No. Some traditional shamanic practices are associated with religion. (Example: Certain yoga practices are associated with the Hindu religion) However, there are other practices that are more general and molded to fit the modern world.
Some common aspects of most shamanic practices include:
Connection with nature
Healing of self and community
Spiritual practices in sacred spaces
Visions/dreams
Rituals/ceremonies
